- Emas adalah satu unsur logam dengan nombor atom 79 dan simbol Au.
- Nama emas datang daripada Bahasa Inggeris Lama erti warna kuning , simbol itu datang daripada Huruf Latin aurum, yang bermaksud “kilatan yang mula memancarkan cahaya.
- Berada bersama dengan perak, tembaga, dan roentgenium, dan di Period 6 antara platinum dan raksa dalam periodic table (jadual berkala).
- Ia adalah dirujuk sebagai satu “logam peralihan.”
